What is the HISSA grant?
The HISSA Grant (Home Improvements and Structural Alterations) is a benefit provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help eligible veterans make medically necessary modifications to their homes. This includes accessibility improvements such as wheelchair ramps, widened doorways, accessible bathrooms, and more.
If you’re a veteran with a service-connected disability — or receiving medical care through the VA — you may qualify for up to $6,800 in funding to improve your home’s safety and livability.
